Dear Parents and Guardians, 

My name is Cody Carlon, I am a Licensed Mental Health Provider working for the  school district. I’m very excited to be working here and am looking forward to getting to  interact with you. I have a great passion for working with both kids and adults. I have  provided services to students and their families through a community mental health  agency for over eight years. During this time, I have provided counseling services to  students within a number of school districts. 

I graduated from Noble High School then received my Bachelor’s degree at the  University of Oklahoma with a focus in Psychology. I went on to complete my Master’s  degree in Psychological Services at East Central University in Ada. I then worked for a  few years under supervision, completing requirements to become a Licensed  Professional Counselor (LPC).  

In addition, I have received my certification in play therapy, which can be an  additional aid for those I work with. Play is considered a natural “language” of the child.  Play therapy can be a comfortable, natural means, for processing things that are  troubling to kids. When guided by a trained play therapist, play becomes an effective  tool to respond to your child in a way that facilitates growth. Cognitive behavioral  therapy is another approach I use when providing services to students. This involves  assisting in the management and understanding of the relationship between our  thoughts, emotions and behaviors. I utilize a person-centered approach when working  to meet each individuals’ unique needs. 

My role at Wanette Public School is to provide supportive services for students to  strengthen the foundation needed for well-rounded and healthy emotional development.  Our goal is to foster a safe and successful learning environment for students. Working  alongside parents and staff will be integral in fostering a conductive environment for  student growth.
